Rome 2 with DeI might be the best total war game to date, depends how much you like fantasy and warhammer, and I say that as a huge total war fan who has played all the games of the series, enjoy.
I suggest you definately play Rome 2, and not skip it as other posters suggest here, also play it with DeI right from the start because if you try it later you will feel you were wasting your time without it. Rome 2 takes place in a period before Rome established it's power across europe and as such it is an incredibly diverse game with Gauls, Romans, Greeks and many more.ĭeI improves the game massively, by adding many new realistic units, more complex building system, better and longer combats, increases the difficulty etc. All other rights - including, but not limited to, distribution, duplication, and publish by any means - are retained by HeavenGames LLC. Attila is good but that period of history isn't as interesting as the one Rome 2 takes place in, in Attila rome was at it's twilight years (at least the western one) and there aren't many other interesting factions to choose from IMO. I have played many hours of both rome 2 unmodded and with DeI and I can tell you once I installed DeI I couldn't go back no matter what.
